“Neha’s plus point in her creative works is the clarity in her thinking process as  depicted in her entire body of work.  Her sketches and drawings of sculptures are bold and well composed and stand on their own merit. Her drawings depict mostly human figures in minimal forms, some in acrobatic poses. The fluidity of her line and placement of figures in the composition make them remarkable creative works.

Most of her sculptures are made of metal, both cast bronzes and fabricated iron or stainless steel. The sculptures are often made of multiple mediums, such as metal, wood and glass. These installations explore ways of determining forms based on the concept of modular systems derived from the proportions of the human body.

Inspired by the colours and patterns of architectural forms and traditional sculptures, she devises many creative works, some of them are installations already executed and some are in the drawing stage. One of her works was a hanging sculpture using multiple magnifying glasses in different dimensions. It is an interesting composition of a hanging sculpture. When light falls on it, the reflections from the magnifying glasses fall on the walls and surroundings. The sculptor designed it in such a way that at every movement of the viewer, the sculpture seems to have a different composition. When the sculpture moves due to the wind, the pattern of light reflected by the magnifying glasses also moves to different positions. The wind changes the position of the elements and the dynamic of the installation.

The art world can expect more interesting works from Neha Mehta in the coming years.”

Balan Nambiar
Senior Indian Artist
Painter .  Enamellist . Sculptor . Photographer

“I was awarded the HRD scholarship by the Government of India in 2011, under the mentorship of Balan Nambiar. Sir and his wife Eva  De Poli Ma’am have guided me throughout my journey and been the wind  beneath my wings. It was here I saw an idea become a drawing; a  scale model become a larger than life sculpture. Nothing polishes  a young artist better than watching a mature artist enthused at  work. I am grateful for the opportunity they bestowed on me.”
